Foz do Arelho is located on Portugal's Silver Coast, more or less in the middle between the capital Lisbon and the country's second biggest city Porto.
Within a radius of 60 kilometers, about 40 miles, it offers quite a lot beautiful little villages and cultural sites to visit.
Sao Martinho do Porto

Nazare
Possibly the most famous town in Portugal, Nazaré is unique in many ways. This town lies on a wide sandy bay that stands in the shadow of the massive Sitio headland. It has grown from a historic fishing town to a bustling and vibrant tourist destination while still retaining its distinctive character and proud heritage.
During the winter months, Nazaré is the setting for the world's biggest waves, making this a real surfing mecca.

Alcobaca
Alcobaça is a town and a municipality in the central east region of Portugal located approximately 100 km (62 miles) north of Lisbon. Its name is derived from the rivers Alcoa and Baça.
The town is small, modest, but very pleasant and rather low-key. It is mostly known for the imposing Monastery of Alcobaça which was built in the 12th century and is declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

Obidos
Surrounded by a classic crenellated wall, Óbidos’ gorgeous historic centre is a labyrinth of cobblestoned streets and flower-bedecked, whitewashed houses livened up with dashes of vivid yellow and blue paint. It’s a delightful place to pass an afternoon.

Batalha
Currently Batalha is a peaceful little town, but it was once the setting for Portugal's most important battle in 1385. The town is dominated by the great Dominican monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, also known simply as the monastery of Batalha (“Battle”), which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983.

Tomar
The medieval town of Tomar is known for a picture-perfect landscape, a wealth of gastronomical delights and great Tomar wine.
Tomar is also considered the actual spiritual capital of Portugal. It is the most important place of the Templar History in the world, since it has preserved an imposing castle and church.
